Around 15 years ago, while in my home country of Australia, I was reading an arts and crafts book – Simple Bead & Mosaic – where I saw the most beautiful pictures and instructions on how to make a knitted hemp curtain. The visuals stayed with me for many years, resulting in knitting my hemp twine curtains always on my list of things to do.
One of the my favorite past-times during the colder months is Knitting. I am extremely grateful to my Grandmother who taught me the skill at a very your age. I have made some beautiful things over the years – curtains, blankets, scarves and hats.
At the moment, I am going through a phase where I am knitting a lot of hats! The more hats I knit, the more people comment that they want one and so it goes around and around like that. I honestly can knit one of these hats in a few hours. It is a very simple hat, and as you are knitting in the round on circular needles there is no seam to sew-up at the end – LOVE THAT.
I loved my Grandma, she was beautiful, and taught me so many wonderful things; in particular Knitting. I can never be grateful enough to my “Nanna Marge” for teaching me such a marvelous skill. I do not remember much about it – what I made or the real memories? I just remember that because of her I am an awesome Knitter.
