Ever wondered about how to make your own all-natural soap. Personally, I did for years, until I finally taught myself how to make it. Now it is all my family uses. Today, we have fellow Mum and Apothecary, Sarah from Sage Flower Hill guest posting with an overview of how it is done. Sarah is an expert, who makes the most beautiful products in the Napa Valley area of California. Enjoy!
Welcome to our week-long giveaway that we are co-hosting with a fabulous group of mommy bloggers from across the United States and Canada.
We are very excited to be giving away toxic-free goodies from Brooklyn (New York) based company Nine Naturals. Forward-thinking Nine Naturals make personal products which are smart and safe for moms and moms-to-be. They craft their products using only natural and organic ingredients, which include shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, deodorant, body wash, sunscreen and lip balm.
Did you know that most commercial lip balms, are made with an ingredient base of petroleum?
Petroleum jelly is made from just that—petroleum, a nonrenewable resource that may be contaminated with cancer-causing agents called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Furthermore, ingesting too much of it (which is easy to do when you slather it on your lips in winter) can lead to upset stomachs and diarrhea. — Rodale News
Ever since I was a little girl, I have had great curiosity of learning about the plants around me and the medicinal qualities they have. Whether that was collecting eucalyptus leaves and mixing them with rose petals to make potpourri, using herbs to steam my face, or making my own scrubs from sand taken from some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches. It is something that has always been fascinating to me.
The holidays are fast approaching, too fast if you ask me, it seems like yesterday it was the beginning of Spring and I was pottering around in the soil getting my garden ready.
I am not sure about you, but for me, the holidays bring a lot of angst, as I just never seem to organize my loved and appreciated ones gifts in time. It is always a last-minute rush to get everything in order by Christmas Eve; when Father Christmas comes down the Chimney!
Body exfoliators can set us back more money than we might like, and they’re often filled with laboratory-concocted ingredients. Making your own natural exfoliators is easy and can save you a ton of money — www.sheknows.com
I like to make my beauty products as much as possible, and over the years one product that I seem to excel in is exfoliating scrubs for the body.
When I was a little girl, I regularly did facial steam baths at home to loosen dirt and debris lodged in the pores of my skin. Maybe this has contributed to why I have such lovely skin at my age, I am sure it definitely helped! Now that I am older I do not do them nearly near as much, but I try my best to get to it when I can. They are a wonderful way to deep-clean, rejuvenate & moisten, as well as smoothing out skin tone. I highly recommend adding it to your beauty regimen if you can.
