Warmer days are finally here in northern hemisphere, and my little boy and I could not be happier. It’s been a long winter here in New York, which seemed never-ending. However, excitingly, today really marked that moment & that realization, where jackets, thermals, scarves, balaclavas etc are being packed in boxes and put away for the next 5 months or so. Woo Hoo, my heels, hats, and one-piece rompers are back in business. It is going to be a beautiful summer.
I am a Mother (like many of us), who likes to look my best, no matter how busy I am chasing my energetic 4-year-old around. It’s important to me, to always feel beautiful, clean and refreshed, mainly because it makes me more focused, positive and happy.
Happy Mum = Happy Child
And, with this warmer weather comes a lot less clothing, which is inevitable here – it goes from literally freezing cold to extreme heat. Yes, here in New York City, there is no in between. Of course, wearing less means, us stylish NYC Mummies are showing more leg!
Here are a few things that I engage in, and you can do too, to keep your legs looking hot to trot.
I’d love to write that I was born with the legs I have, but alas I work really hard for them. I exercise at least 5 days a week, with a combination or crossfit, kickboxing, running, tennis and the occasional horse riding. If I cannot make the gym, I will sometimes do a workout at home. Exercises that target legs include calf raises, lunges and squats – all things you can do without a gym or equipment.
Additionally I walk a lot, usually pushing my Son in his stroller. If you are not from New York City, you may be excused to think that people here either get taxis or catch the subway everywhere. That is true to a point, but New Yorkers also walk a lot and I am up there with the best of them. I will happily walk the 5 miles to Central Park from where I live in Brooklyn, and home again. If you ask me, it is a fantastic way to keep up with a city that is constantly changing.
St. Ives® Apricot Scrub for Exfoliation
The skin is our largest organ, and also responsible for getting rid of around 25% of your body’s toxins, releasing up to a pound a day! Exfoliation aids this process by removing dead skin cells, and stimulating blood flow. To have great looking legs and smoother looking skin, exfoliation is a must. I use St. Ives® apricot scrub, which I have been using for many years. Love it!
St. Ives® Body Wash for cleaning and moisturizing
The Oatmeal & Shea butter hydrating body wash is the next best step to exfoliation. It contains nourishing oatmeal and conditioning shea butter. Besides being a wonderful moisturizer for the skin, shea butter, is an excellent source of Vitamin A and Vitamin E. It is an anti-inflammatory and is helpful for skin blemishes, sunburn, frostbite and helps diminish wrinkles.
Being a green mom, it is important to me that whatever products I use on my body, like St. Ives® products, are –
• Made With 100% natural ingredients
• Paraben Free
• Dermatologist Tested
Those Colorful Nails are very becoming on you
A good pedicure really complements the look of healthy looking legs. Besides making you feel great, having regular pedicures (manicures too) help keep bacteria and dirt at bay, prevents ingrown toe nails, and keeps foot odor away.
My 4-year-old insists on choosing the colors I have my nails painted each time. This week, he was feeling a rainbow sprinkle kind of look! So adorable and very suiting for the current Spring weather.
Adding these routines into your day to day life, will have you Rocking Your Legs in no time, just like a New York City Mom like me!
